The position is located in the Trade, Poverty and Inequalities Branch (TPIB) of the Division for Africa, Least Developed Countries and Special Programmes (ALDC). Carrying out his/her tasks under the guidance of the Head of the TPIB, the intern will provide assistance to Economists performing the following functions:
- Provide research assistance on poverty and inequality in an African country
- Assist in identifying and examine governance challenges facing a selected African country and their implications for poverty and inequality
- Assis in collecting and analyzing economic data from national and international sources
- Participate in meetings and conferences organized by the branch and provide summaries of discussions.
Requisiti principali: - Applicants to the programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
- (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,
- (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent).
- For this position the University degree must be in the area of economics or international affairs;
- Knowledge of governance issues and challenges facing African countries and familiarity with statistical softwares and techniques are desirable;
- Should be computer literate in standard software applications;
- Fluency written and spoken in English is required for this internship.
